Are you doing the job that our society needs you to do? Are you successful at it? How do you know? Over the past decade we have worked closely with hundreds of college instructors, postdocs, graduate students, and undergrads in collaborative research projects designed to help us understand fundamental issues of teaching and learning in general education astronomy and space science courses. The results from these multi-institutional research collaborations have been used to transform classrooms all over the country. We are creating learning environments that significantly improve the science literacies and levels of engagements in STEM for the hundreds of thousands of students taking these courses each year. By moving students along the continuum from "non-science majors", to "peer teaching assistant", to "education researcher" and "curriculum developer", to "STEM (and STEM education) degree" seeking students, we are creating the next generation's Ambassadors of Science.
